The Cyanea Capillata Pendant Light or ‘Jellyfish’ Lamp was designed as an exercise in kinetic lighting systems. It features an acrylic shade that has a metallic finish on the underside to aid in its downlighting capabilities. From the shade, hangs about one hundred mother of pearl disks which are attached to a steel wire and pulley system. When the steel wire is pulled, the disks are drawn inwards, obstructing the bulb and creating varying degrees of light.
